Candidates who are qualified and selected for the United Career Path Program will be placed in the hiring pool at United as a First Officer on their narrow body fleet after 18 months of flight instruction with LAT USA, reaching 1,500 hours of total flight time and obtaining an ATP AMEL.

It Takes The Right Attitude And Aptitude To Get In

What it takes to be considered for the program:
  • CPL with Instrument Rating
  • CFI/CFII
  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Commendable employment record
  • Completion of the Airline Application
  • A minimum of 500 hours of total flight time
  • A minimum of 200 hours of instruction given
What’s required if your application is accepted:
  • Completion of the Hogan Personality Index
  • Panel interviews with the Lufthansa Aviation Training and United Airlines team

Become Your Best By Training The Best

While preparing to be a United pilot, you’ll be a Lufthansa Aviation Training employee teaching future airline pilots for the airlines of the Lufthansa Group.

What You’ll Learn And Teach

You’ll learn the Lufthansa method of instruction during an initial 60-day standardization training.

During your 18 months in the program, you’ll be a flight instructor at LAT USA campus, located at the Phoenix Goodyear Airport in Goodyear, AZ.

Training Equipment

Our current fleet includes Beechcraft Bonanza, Grob 120A and Cirrus SR20 G6. You’ll also have access to 3 FNPT simulators.

Get Your Foot In The Door At United

During your 18 months, you’ll have direct access to United Airlines staff through the United Professional Development Mentoring Program, which gives you the ability to start building relationships with their team. United also closely monitors training, dependability and discipline records throughout your time here. Upon a successful final review of CPP exit requirements, you’ll enter the United First Officer hiring pool.
